This week's featured Survivor in #dhhrm's Dimensions in Testimony Theater is Izzy Starck. After the Germans invaded in spring 1944, the Izzy's family was taken to the Munkacs Ghetto and then deported to Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Tickets at dhhrm.org/visit/general-…. USC Shoah Foundation

Toward the end of September, President Dwight D. Eisenhower deployed the 101st Airborne Division to protect the 9 students and enforce their right to an education. The “Little Rock Nine” became the first black students to attend Central High School.

Today is the anniversary of the first day of school in Little Rock, AR in 1957. The “Little Rock Nine”, all black students, attempted to attend classes at Central High School. Arkansas' National Guard and a violent mob, gathered in front of the school to prevent their entrance.
