Agree with Bellal Joseph. The piece is amazing, beautiful and tragic. Brings home why a long standing peds critical care colleague has been against infant heart transplants for years. As terrible it is for a baby to die, having an aware child/teen die was far worse.

I get blank stares every time i teach or make rounds. Then i remember that I have clothes older than the trainees I am rounding with......and my kids are wearing some of them....🤷. #traumacephalosaurus

Should be an outstanding meeting and honored to be there for AAST as well as hosting an international panel on survivorship with colleague and outcomes rock star Belinda Gabbe from Melbourne and learning about the Japanese experience from Asuka Tsuchiya, MD, PhD

Yes it does and congratulations on a great save. This is why survivorship matters, not only for our patients but for ourselves.

Cannot express my ongoing gratification and support for our rockstar palliative care counselor Deb Mazza. Her essay is poignant and spot-on. She is a true pillar of our program and we are soooo lucky to have her. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

This project was for the AAST 75th meeting in 2013 under president Bob Mackersie. Fred and I were honored to do the interviews with all living past-presidents. These are priceless reading for members & trainees as to our legacy and history, especially as some have passed away.

I've shared this previously, but this week is clearly the ideal time. My "analog" match slip from 1981. Had to get on a phone to get my prelim position at NYU/Bellevue. Outworked other residents and finished. The rest is history. DO NOT DESPAIR AND LET THIS SETBACK DEFINE YOU!!
