It's T-7 days until the start of the inaugural Systemic Investing Summit. We'll have over 150 people in attendance to explore "what is" and "what could be" and thus build the foundations for growing the field exponentially in the months and years ahead.

New Rule: Sustainability-related conferences must move away from panels. They're not working.

Our ambition was to recreate the magic that happened in Bellagio in 2007, when the impact investing movement was born. It would be presumptuous to declare that we succeeded at that—but what's clear is that systemic investing has all the ingredients it needs to become a movement.

At the Summit, 15 World Café roundtables and 17 "Forging Collaboration" sessions showed how the key concepts of systemic investing could be harnessed in service of a wide range of societal goods and across different system scales, geographic areas, and cultural contexts.

Boy, was it a chatty bunch! But so fabulous to see the creative energy and sense of agency. This will bode extremely well for future collaboration.

Observation from the past 6 months of fundraising for TransCap Initiative: most foundations want to fund the doing, few want to fund the thinking. I have sympathy for that position. After all, we need to act with urgency. But what if the action is based on the wrong thinking?
