We started with the right hepatic, but didn’t find anything. Ended up checking the renal artery next, and saw this. Thanks to our ESIR resident Mark Diiulio - identified the problem and facilitated its work up/treatment while on his SICU rotation.

TACE of a segment 8 lesion via the usual SMA-GDA-RHA route šŸ˜‚. The 3D rendering is what I worked on while PGY-6 resident Brian Quinn MD was hard at work. We both were really proud of our individual accomplishments. SIR ECS USC IR SIR RFS Society of Interventional Radiology

Autonomy and volume! During my first body rotation I did my first CT procedure and my attending didn’t scrub. Now as a PGY6, after 2 months I’ve done numerous angios with interventions, CT ablations, GI/GU/biliary procedures and one TIPS with the attending watching. #USCRadsAMA

We are a level 1 trauma center and major safety net hospital so IR call can be quite busy. My last call was punctuated by a postpartum hemorrhage requiring emergent UAE and stab wound to the back resulting in a lumbar artery injury treated with glue embolization. #USCRadsAMA

Many opportunities at every resident level! Medical students are always on service. Jenanan Vairavamurthy, MD and I just helped an M3 get his first jugular access during a TJLB! #USCRadsAMA

ā¤ļø how #radres programs, including my alma mater, are finding new ways to connect with applicants. Q2: #radiology call at @LACUSCMedCenter was incredible. You learn to read efficiently & quickly while maintaining accuracy, an invaluable skill.
