Researchers discovered that they could turn certain polyesters into vinyl polymers using the Ireland-Claisen rearrangement. The skeletal rearrangement strategy gives chemists access to materials they couldn’t make through vinyl polymerization: fal.cn/3kq4C

I didn’t take many pics but I’m so so thankful for my experience this week at the #polymerGRC. I got to reconnect with old friends (some after 4+ years), make so many new ones, and remember why I love being a part of such an awesome community! 💙

What a wonderful time last week at the polymers GRC, where I got to see old friends, make many new ones, and learn some really interesting chemistry. I even had the opportunity to present my current research at the polymers GRS! Thankful to be part of such an amazing community.

Yesterday I defended my Ph.D. dissertation! I’m extremely grateful to have received guidance and support from my advisor, Alex (Aleksandr Zhukhovitskiy), throughout my time in graduate school. I am going to miss being at UNC and especially being in lab with the members of the Zhukhovitskiy Group.

Excited to share this collaborative work with the Ian Tonks group, led by a powerhouse duo Rachael Ditzler and Rachel Rapagnani. We demonstrated architectural editing of polyester and polyurethane backbones through Pd-catalyzed 3,3-rearrangements pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…
