Absolutely loving Callie Chappell's live sketches of our #ComSciCon22 sessions! Here are some of the takeaways from our panel discussion about Diversity in #scicomm featuring science illustrator Gb Kim, astrophysicist & author @huei_sears, and neuroscientist & podcaster Dr Bashir | Her Royal Science.

Another *fantastic* live sketch by Callie Chappell summarizing today's #ComSciCon22 workshop about communicating "controversial science," led by journalist @ShannonGeary.

It was so fun to invite Gabi Serrato Marks, PhD to lead a workshop about disability in STEM & accessible #scicomm at #ComSciCon22. Gabi & I met as ComSciCon attendees back in 2017, so this feels very full circle. It was also just a stellar (see what I did there Stellate Communications?!) session!

This afternoon at #ComSciCon22 we had a great #scipol panel with Pam DiBona Pam DiBona from Extinction Rebellion Boston 🐝⌛🦋/Scientist Rebellion and physician & state senator Dr. Dr. Saud Anwar. Lots of lessons, many of which are captured in this brilliant live sketch by Callie Chappell.

It's been over a week, but I'm still basking in the afterglow of ✨#ComSciCon22✨ and digging deeper into the amazing #scicomm stories & resources our participants shared. So I appreciate this 🧵 by Callie Chappell summarizing Maddie Sofia's fantastic keynote & linking to more info!

Fascinating line of work from Ev (like in 'evidence', not Eve) Fedorenko 🇺🇦's lab, studying the brains of folks missing part (or all!) of their temporal lobes -- including Helen Santoro, who wrote about her experience in NYT Science: nyti.ms/3RlWui6

Really enjoyed playing a small part in this project spearheaded by Greta Tuckute & Jenelle Feather, examining the relationship between the representations of sounds in auditory deep neural networks (DNNs) and human auditory cortex. Check out the tweetprint & the preprint!

This is a fantastic opportunity for post-bac folks interested in cognitive neuroscience! Nancy Kanwisher @[email protected] is an incredible mentor & her lab is a great place to do science (I miss it!). Apply, apply, apply!

Another cool job alert! Ev (like in 'evidence', not Eve) Fedorenko 🇺🇦 is a brilliant scientist & wonderful human, and this project promises to teach us a lot about brain organization and plasticity.

Nice review paper from Prof Sophie Scott CBE's group on song responses in human auditory cortex. Lots of exciting questions for future research, a few of which we're hoping to tackle in Sam Norman-Haignere's lab...

Honored to have played a small part in this exciting work by Jenelle Feather & Greta Tuckute, investigating deep neural network (DNN) models of auditory cortex. Some of the cool findings explained in Greta's 🧵 below! And check out the MIT News coverage: news.mit.edu/2023/deep-neur…
