There are lots of statistics bandied about from the Spring Statement but this is one of the starkest for me. The government’s own department of Work and Pensions has shown that the benefit cuts for disabled people will push 250,000 people into poverty.

Presumably most people get it now. Keir Starmer is not even vaguely progressive. He's an apolitical vacuum who can claim to deeply believe anything, especially the polar opposite of things he's claimed to deeply believe before. Doing it in this way, at this time, is despicable.

Tony Blair was quite popular before he dragged us into a war in the Middle East. Goodness knows how low Starmer’s approval rating could go if he does the same from this starting point…

The “welfare reform bill” is out and let’s be clear: this is not reform - it is devastating cuts. Disabled people will be made poorer, sicker, and more isolated as a result. That it is a Labour government causing this misery will be a mark of shame on the party for years to come.

Secret “negotiations” about ‘concessions’ with hand picked ‘rebels’ which exclude the disabled, and based on non existent impact appraisals. It all feels a bit chaotic and ad hoc whilst the futures are millions are on the table. Worst kind of top down govt

The UK’s ballooning defence budget is all about paying tribute to the court of King Trump. And this government is consciously making 150,000 disabled people poorer to go towards that payment. No Labour MP should vote for this, including ministers.

FWIW I think the prospect of a socialist left party working constructively with a radical Green Party is probably better for both than the socialist left descending en masse on the Green Party and turning it into a socialist left party. Each reaches voters the other can’t.
