Year 7 students visited Ridgeway School to see author &UK Patron of Reading, Joffre White. he gave a talk about his life, writing, reading & the heroes who are all round us. he said 'You are the author of the story of your life. Chase your dreams, be kind, be a Hero to someone'

This week the Community Policing Team will be carrying out Operation Sceptre which is the national anti-knife crime initiative. During the week the Community Policing Team will be in all Swindon schools carrying out a range of talks and activities.

Huge thanks to Beard Construction for donating £100 of National Book Tokens to our school library for World Book Day! Our librarian, Ms. Murphy used the donation to buy fantastic new books from Swindon's independent bookshop, Bert's Books.

On Thursday 20thMarch, The Dorcan Academy Young Enterprise team took part in the regional showcase as part of Young Enterprise Company Programme and won the Customer Service Award! They have been working as a team to set up their business ‘CoastIt’,

We are delighted that Oisin in Year 10 won the semifinals of the English Boxing Championships and in the finals walked away with the silver medal. Oisin has had a call from the England Boxing Association to say that he has been scouted to train and fight for England.

We are delighted that Ron in Year 8 has so far successfully completed 26.5 miles of his 44-mile charity swim for Diabetes UK and is due to complete any time now. He has also currently raised £180 in donations. Well done Ron, we are really proud of you!

For growth mindset day, year 9 students focused on protecting the environment.

Year 7 displayed remarkable resilience, personal responsibility, and courage during their Growth Mindset Day as they explored the traditions and strength of the Hakka.

The Dorcan Academy choir were delighted to join Covingham Primary School for their VE Day celebration. Our choir performed a range of songs and showed exemplary behaviour throughout. A big thank you to Covingham Primary for hosting such a thoughtful and enjoyable event.🎵

We are delighted to share that Chloe and Alexia in Year 8 won their North Wiltshire Football League Cup final 4-0 and were also League Champions. All of us at Dorcan are incredibly proud of their achievements. Well done!

Congratulations to our under-16 boy's football team. They successfully defeated The Commonweal School in a tense final. With a slender 1-0 win, The Dorcan Academy are the Swindon Schools U-16 champions.

A massive well done to the Year 9 B Team who reached the final of Swindon Schools Cup. After a gripping and exciting game, they were unlucky to lose to a last minute goal 5-4. They showed incredible resilience and team spirit to come from behind 3 times in the match.

A huge shoutout to the incredible students who brought Game of Tiaras to life! The performance was filled with laughter and a touch of tragedy. Huge thanks to Mr. Roke for his dedication in directing this production. 🎭"
