Ali Twelvetrees Many thanks to you, Alex Fellows and Ines Hahn for organising a truly inspiring conference. Excellent talks and fantastic scientific discussions at the poster session with so many outstanding early career researchers #NeuroBioUK Can’t wait for next year’s event!

In this (very long) thread on the rise, fall, and end of coal powered electricity production in the U.K., Rugeley power station didn’t get a picture - I can’t let that stand, so here’s one from my wall. Thread starts here > x.com/EngineerLondon…

A last weekend of reading, travel to London, then in a meeting room for two days and finally a day to recover (sitting alone at home). Conclusion, grant panels are bad for your health… 🤪

We were very sorry to learn of the death this week of our friend and colleague Prof. David Stephens. As a scientist and educator David touched the lives of countless biochemists and cell biologists, and he will be fondly remembered. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

So sorry to hear this. David was an enthusiastic and supportive scientist and great colleague. I will always remember his smile and optimism. Loss of a cell biology champion- David Stephens (1971-2024): UK Cilia Network cilianetwork.org.uk/news/4669/loss… via Robert Dang

Indeed this is an awful decision and makes a mockery of all of our science. I’ve signed and have been spreading the word. We have to fight this so we can fight MND

Recording synaptic minis (mEPSCs)? We have a new paper trying to better understand how recorded datasets match synaptic changes. In short, they don't.. More info and the preprint below:

This story got a lot of interest, so an update: the science-integrity startup Argos has now posted full searchable dasboards of research journals, with their volume/rate of retractions and 'high-risk' papers. scitility.com/argos
