NEW DATA: The carbon footprint of the richest 5% of households in Scotland is 4 times greater than the poorest 5%. Our new research finds a large disparity in the carbon footprints of high and low income households in Scotland. 🧵futureeconomy.scot/publications/5…

In areas such as private transport, aviation and hospitality, the richest households are consuming more than 10 times more carbon than the poorest households. With regards to goods and other services, the richest are consuming more than 5 times more carbon than the poorest.

The research, undertaken in partnership with Dr. Anne Owen from the University of Leeds, is the first of its kind in Scotland. The full findings and methodology can be viewed here: futureeconomy.scot/publications/5…
