Happy to share our new study on genetic & environmental contributors to age-related decline in ~100K UK Biobank participants! Nature Communications Here, we used simulation work + longitudinal GWAS to explore risks involved in cognitive/physical decline (1/)🧵🧵 shorturl.at/99gqL

The ReGPC presents comprehensive GWAS of the Big Five personality in N=611K-1.14M and within-family GWAS in N=51K. In contrast to many other social/behav traits, pop GWAS of personality almost entirely reflect direct genetic effects. doi.org/10.1101/2025.0…

Lots of nice within-family analyses here showing that direct genetic effects on personality are very similar to the population GWAS effects. Interestingly the one nominal exception, openness to experience (purple), also had the highest genetic correlation with edu attainment.

La Dra. Jennifer Melfi, psiquiatra de Toni Soprano, lo dejó bien claro. En cuanto a comportamiento y rasgos similares como la inteligencia, logro educativo o éxito profesional, no existe el determinismo genético. Abdel Abdellaoui Sasha Gusev

What if a brilliant genomics researcher in Amsterdam summarized everything we know about society and genes in a comic book?

Ryan Lackey (@octal) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Wow. The comic created from the article will almost certainly have greater popular impact (and for many topics that could easily be the larger overall value). Short video explainers would do the same for most papers.

🚨 Just out! Massive global ENIGMA-CNV study led by Ana Silva + David Linden (90+ authors!) reveals how rare copy number variants (CNVs) in the human genome disrupt brain structure. Landmark in human genetics 🌍🧬🧠 Basically 🌐They pooled T1-weighted brain MRI + genetic data

Don't let this keep you from following your interests. If your goal is anything else than enjoying to study the things you are curious about, science may not be the best field for you anyways

I'm so fortunate that this paper got published in such a good journal. I hope that it can be a helpful guide for future researchers who want to work at the intersection of economics and genetics and estimate Gene-Environment interplay #GxE
