Had a great hackweek at Santa Cruz with my students! The work is intense, but Santa Cruz always has a way to make you chill 😃

If you are at the IAU #396 for Massive Galaxies at Naples, my student Xiaoya is giving a talk on Thu! I know you are excited about the high-z stuff, but there is more to understand in the halos of local giants. Xiaoya did a great job pointing in an interesting direction!

Yuan-Sen quietly pushed out a 677-page textbook with code while I was struggling to finish one paragraph of my paper 😂 Anyway, this looks super good!

For people who work on massive galaxies and focus on the low-surface brightness side, this is literally the dream... Hope we get to play with the data soon!

Important milestone achieved for our project: we have STICKER now!

Heard some disturbing news that a Chinese student's post-doc offer was revoked by a Canadian institute (I heard it is Herzberg ) due to "pressure from the U.S. government". Two things: 1. We are keeping a list; 2. It would be nice to let us know before our students apply.

Just talk to a few Chinese astronomers, you will know there is no mystery, it is not the "biggest" at all, and there is no "military advantage" 😂 If you can read and write Chinese, a lot of information is in public. But I guess no one at WSJ has this extremely rare capability
