Indiscriminately sacking 41,000 public servants, the majority unlikely to be Canberra based, will inevitably lead to poorer outcomes. Other collateral consequence will be reliance on private sector “consultants”. instagram.com/reel/DHuOhRpTB…

And we're off! My first excursion as a lecturer. Off to a camp in Ballarat for third year students to learn environmental sampling and analysis, including soil! The whole environmental science team is going and I am looking forward to meeting more students.

PhD is bloody hard but so worth it. Today was the PhD completion seminar of UoM soil group student and friend Li Bi. Her topic was viruses in soil. One more chapter to finish and then submission! Well done mate. Very proud of your dedication and high standards 🙌 😃

Teaching about the Tree of Life is always exciting in soil biology lectures. This news of multicellularity in archaea is super interesting. Halophilic archaea can solubilize phosphate & may contribute to plant growth in hypersaline soils. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Sharing this because the NSW DPI seminar will cover off the key to unlocking soil water in crop and pasture soilswith poor infiltration, poor soil structure, low hydraulic conductivity, and subsoil constraints that reduceplant-available water capacity.
