Keir Starmer has said too many people from overseas are working for the NHS. I wonder if he knows the names Amged el-Hawrani, Adel el-Tayar and Habib Zaidi. They were the first three doctors to die from covid while working for the NHS in this country.

I think we’re on schedule for your annual reminder - the second you charge a penny for programmes that review applications for your profession, you narrow access and you widen inequality. You’re selling knowledge and keeping it out of the reach of those who can’t afford.

Anybody who cares about our country should read this week’s Economist magazine about declining life expectancy in the U.K. compared to major European countries. It’s all about poverty, inequality and under-resourced public health.

Life as an EM Consultant these days: a question or unfixable problem every 2.4 seconds for 10hrs straight - seriously how are we meant do a whole career of this and stay sane/healthy? 😴

Today is Emergency Medicine day. Thank you to all the clinicians looking after patients today. It’s a tough career, and not for the faint hearted, but always interesting and rewarding. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else
