New paper in JAMA Network Open from City of Hope calls into the question the utility of serial tumor informed ctDNA measurement versus routine imaging based surveillance for recurrence following curative intent surgery for #ColorectalCancer. Only 1.6% of patients who underwent

Kicking off the new year, our paper by Leo Speidel et al. is out describing what to me is a breakthrough in ancient genomics. By using genealogies to study ancestry we can get much more resolution to study finer-scale history. We call this method Twigstats.

Read our latest #research on glioblastoma origins and growth, injury-reprogramming to neural crest-like identity, led by Akram Hamed from my lab, with Lincoln Stein,MarioniLab,Benjamin Simons, published with Springer Nature in @nature, rdcu.be/d5n7I

Here's our latest, led by Drs. Riaz Gillani & Ryan Collins - we studied a type of inherited genetic event (structural variants) + risk of developing certain cancers in kids: Dana-Farber News Dana-Farber Division of Population Sciences Boston Children's Broad Institute Science Magazine science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

This just out! My colleague Peter Dirks and his lab published on the origins of Glioblastoma from neural precursor cells in a manner similar to injury reprogramming. In nature this week! #glioblastoma #stemcells The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) U of T Department of Surgery University of Toronto Neurosurgery

Who would benefit from checkpoint inhibitor immunotherapy for cancer? A machine learning model based on routine lab tests and basic clinical data outperformed FDA approved biomarkers (such as PD-L1) nature.com/articles/s4159… Nature Medicine from nearly 10,000 patients

Proud of this Australian study led Melanoma Institute Australia that changed practice overnight - now the 7 year overall survival in patients with #melanoma brain metastases. 51% alive at 7 yrs for upfront combination ipi+nivo & 29% for nivo mono therapy. Excited to be part of this international collaborative effort, now published in Cancer Discovery! Great to see validation of our findings on extrachromosomal DNA 📿🧬 (initially published in Nature nature.com/articles/s4158…) in an independent cohort of 595 urothelial cancer whole genomes:

Fantastic review on metastatic organotropism from Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center team (Anil K. Rustgi et al), discussing mediators & regulators of lung, liver, brain and bone organotropic metastases. #OpenAccess in Trends in Cancer

🧠New in Nature Medicine (#OpenAccess): This study explores the impact of neoadjuvant triplet immune checkpoint blockade in newly diagnosed #glioblastoma.🔗Full article: nature.com/articles/s4159… #EANOessentials #NeuroOncology #Glioma #Immunotherapy

Delighted to share our new study, led by @annacgeraghty and Lehi Acosta , uncovering the cellular dysregulation underpinning cognitive impairment after CAR T cell therapy and a strategy to rescue this cellular and cognitive dysfunction in mice. 1/ cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

🎉 Congratulations Dr. Bennett, Dr. Levine, Dr. Nobre and the contributing authors on our Nature Cancer publication “A population-based analysis of the molecular landscape of glioma in adolescents and young adults reveals insights into gliomagenesis” rdcu.be/em0BS
