8 day turn around from submission to passport in hand. Nice work Department of State!

Really excited to represent the @ProbstLab at this yearās Joint Genome Institute User Meeting!

Devin Rippner, PhD and I are looking to hire a postdoc to lead X-ray CT of soils under 149 year treatments from University of Illinois historic Morrow Plots. Machine learning image analysis to quantify and link soil pore networks with biogeochemical functions. Remote work possible. Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL)

Do you have experience developing and applying modern deep learning approaches to image segmentation problems? Come work with Andrew Margenot, Neslihan TaÅ, and I as we use multimodal imaging to better understand how long term management changes soils at the historic Morrow plots!

Come push the boundaries of what is possible in soil science by developing workflows to train and segment 2/3D image data collected using SEM and X-ray imaging techniques across size scales (m to nm). Soil aggregate movie for reference! Advanced Photon Source Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) Joint Genome Institute

New in A&EL! "Phosphate elution from anion-exchange membranes in soil analysis" by Suwei Xu and Andrew Margenot This study presentsĀ an improved way to measure resin-extractable phosphorus in soil. Read it here: doi.org/10.1002/ael2.7ā¦

The annual WSU Crop and Soil Sciences graduate student tour group stopped by WSU Prosser IAREC this week! Thanks to our USDA adjunct faculty, Drs. Alterndorf, Heineck, and Rippner, for presenting their current research to the students, including a demo of the Giddings machineš

Does how we measure P use efficiency (PUE) matter? Yes; by *a lot*. PUE estimated indirectly by difference (crop P uptake with vs without P fertilizer) gives lower, and sometimes negative, PUE values than when determined directly by radioisotope labeling. acsess.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/aeā¦
