The annual costof treating bacterial infections was estimated at $25,152,120 across nine RRHs in Uganda Ministry of Health- Uganda Patients with AMR infections contributed $22,297,235, accounting for 89% of the total costs, while patients with susceptible infections contributed $2,854,886

Our CAMO-Net team is visiting 9 Regional Referral Hospitals in Uganda, sharing results on antibiotic use trends & the economic burden of AMR in RRH. Our presentations to health workers sparked discussions on regulating over-the-counter access to antibiotics.

As we continue sharing findings in Mbarara, Soroti, Mbale, Gulu, Jinja, Arua, Lira, Kabale, and Masaka RRHs, health care workers are reminded of their roles in combating AMR. Continued AMR surveillance and clear data records are essential to informing effective strategies.
