It is simply not acceptable to have nearly 15,000 homeless people in Ireland whilst Fianna FƔil and Fine Gael continue to run huge budget surpluses. The new Minister must end the overreliance on the private sector and build affordable homes for people.

In Leaders' Questions, I think I have counted 7 times that Jack Chambers has said that the Government will protect renters without offering an example of a single new measure. Sole proposal is building enough homes - something his Government has demonstrated it is incapable of.

We are recruiting GPs to take part in the GP retention project. If you are a GP working in Ireland *or* an Irish trained GP abroad, please consider taking part (and if you're a GP who has already participated, thank you so much!!) #GPRetention #DrRetention

It’s a nightmare 3-4 years of a wait for assessment of needs locally &then it can be a similar length again to access services. Fair play to Radie Peat for speaking out about her own family. We need to see big changes in how CDNT’s recruit &retain irishtimes.com/health/2025/02…

Delighted to talk at the Irish College of GPs webinar this evening about the GP Retention Project. We're looking to talk to 10 GPs working in Ireland and 10 Irish trained GPs abroad about GP working lives and #GPRetention

Hello! Here's an article I wrote for TheJournal.ie. Most people in Ireland pay the full price of seeing a GP (as well as taxes, and private health insurance). In this regard, we are an outlier in Europe. 'Universal GP care for Ireland is long overdue' jrnl.ie/6646057

A third of all mental health 'treatments' in England involve no human interaction at all... Patients are rather offered apps, web-based interventions & self-guided CBT online courses.... As if more screen time is what we all need. theguardian.com/society/2023/j…

Here is a letter I wrote in the Lancet this month, on how the imprint of Ireland's history can be seen in our health services, particularly primary care. It’s hard to believe that even after the special committee and its report, we in Ireland are still met with silence from our government on legislating for Voluntary Assisted Dying, while our neighbours in the UK are courageously moving forward with debates and difficult

Interesting contribution to assisted dying debate from Royal College of Psychiatrists in Scotland. They say they carried out an entirely separate process of surveying members to their colleagues in England and Wales and have decided on a position of neutrality.

Despite being one of the richest countries in Europe, Ireland is the only European country without universal coverage of primary healthcare. 🩺 It doesn’t have to be this way. Labour's health spokesperson Marie Sherlock TD's full statement: labour.ie/news/2025/05/2…
