Is the reason we can't afford to pay doctors and nurses the same wages they earned in 2008 in real terms Because £23 billion in contracts goes to private firms providing services to the NHS, generating for them over £3 billion in profit every year? And profits for private firms

This is disingenuous and misleading. This is the scenario: - You have £100 - I take £40 from you - Now you have £60 - I give you £20 back - You now have £80 Is it really unreasonable for you to demand the remaining £20 back over the next few years?! No, it’s not.

An excellent example of society's approach to COVID and long COVID. We carry on consuming and acting as if nothing is wrong while paying no attention to the ongoing effects on the population.

If your memories of being a #JuniorDoctors #resident look a bit like this im going to suggest you are cautious regarding expressing opinions on strike action and #fullpayrestoration. as L P Hartley put it. "The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there."

UK Health Security Agency How much did treating nosocomial SARS-CoV-2 infection and coping with ward Covid outbreaks cost NHS hospitals in England during the same period?

Couldn't decide what to read next so went with a Kindle suggestion. After the third rather disconnected chapter I was about to give up as I didn't understand how the plot connected together. Then realised it was a collection of short stories!

I was explaining to my Ukrainian colleague the phrase ‘There’s no such thing as a free lunch’. She told me the equivalent in Ukrainian is ‘The only free cheese is in the mousetrap’ - which is so much better

Soaking new #chestnut lath in an old bath. Clearly some tannin coming out. Can the water be used for plants afterwards in view of the weather? I'm thinking would be acid so ok for azalea and Rhodies. Any thoughts #coppice workers or Bob Flowerdew

Cost of resolving the Doctors pay dispute is between £200-£500m, they are not asking for this all in one yr, just a commitment Context this is a quarter of the extra £ received back into the treasury last year alone from £ into the NHS Pension Alternatively £5-£13 /taxpayer/yr

I’ve been a Doctor 36yrs & I understand why Residents have resorted to strikes 20% less pay than Drs in 2008, £100k student debt, poor working conditions/job security, higher pension contributions, longer working life as pension after 67yrs I had it good & Karol had it better

2 days interacting with service engineers, Salesforce and car rental personnel has reminded me of one of my favourite exploring questions for tutorials on consultations. "Think of when you interact with eg car or boiler repair engineers: How vulnerable do you feel and why?

Why: Because; we are still in a COVID pandemic You are meeting lots of people We do not ventilate or filter air in public spaces We normalise presenteeism when sick and penalise absence We don't use (N95 or above) masks in healthcare Hope that answers your question.

For the past 6 years I have felt compelled to watch first the GCN+ and now the TNT coverage of the Tour. But the ITV (and previously Channel 4) highlight hour is a thing of absolute perfection. It instilled a love for the history and beauty of cycling and I will miss it terribly.
