Another hospital admission where the nursing staff did not make an accurate appraisal of function. And yet again, paramedics returning the patient from hospital say to me, 'I didn't know she could X'. This is nonsense. Please pick up the phone to the family carer. #CarersWeek

Please do not say to a family carer after a hospital admission, if you're one of the nurses looking after my relative, 'I didn't know she could walk'. This shows either you don't care, or can't be bothered to talk to a family carer. #CarersWeek

shibley Interesting...used to be called.."checking the activities of daily living" when written in the nursing kardex on patient admission! Sad 😥 to see.

Dear Tory MPs, please stop patronising us with the line about the PM "getting the big calls right." Sky high cost of living; sky high taxes; record inflation; record number of people on benefits; illegal immigrants pouring across the Channel; suitcases of booze; gold wallpaper...

Most people have surgery to remove a subdural haematoma, but in 10% to 20% of patients the condition returns. Dexamethasone is sometimes given to stop the haematoma from returning, but little evidence shows it improves outcomes. What did a new study find? bmj.com/content/377/bm…

there has been a move to redraft s.172 of the Companies Act (2006), away from 'to promote "the success" of a company', to 'to promote "the purpose" of the company'. this is to take away the focus of a company from purely its shareholders. a good thing for energy? LBC

These therapies have no place in NHS-funded maternity care although obviously some pregnant women will choose to have them privately (their choice, fair enough). But no way should they be a desirable attribute for an NHS job.
