Former CNN senior correspondent Arwa Damon’s visit to the ruins of al-Shifa Hospital in November 2024 has resurfaced amid growing fears of similar devastation at the Indonesian and al-Awda Hospitals, following an immediate evacuation order from Israeli forces.

"What truly limits democracy is the power of elites - who think because they are rich, they are above the law. This is why tech billionaires want to overthrow democracy ... like fascists did in the past" 👏👏🇪🇸PM Pedro Sánchez, in contrast to most at Davos Well worth a listen👇

Never a dull day in public affairs! Questioning the First Minister on his NHS reform plans, catching up with the Health Secretary Neil Gray MSP then a wee drive through to BBC Scotland to feature on Scotcast with martin geissler. They said they liked talkers and they certainly got one!

The parts of the story people often don't hear, and we should be more transparent about, are the effects on the people involved when these political controversies hit the press. Having their house broken into must have been incredibly frightening. news.sky.com/story/amp/mich…

2/ The UK Government currently has the opportunity to be a world-leader in tobacco control. We urge all 4 UK nations to pass and implement the Tobacco & Vapes Bill, which would raise the age of sale by one year every year, to help prevent the next generation from ever starting

Yesterday the Leng review came to Derriford (Plymouth) to hear all sides of the issue surrounding PAs in the NHS. Derriford is well known for employing a high number of PAs and so it makes sense for them to visit. The review is meant to be unbiased and fair.

Grateful to the Cabinet Secretary Neil Gray MSP for meeting researchers at our parliamentary event last month and highlighting it in his speech in the Chamber last week. Scotland punches well above its weight in cancer research and we want to see that continue into the future.

If anything, we are wasting incredible skill and talent as Mia has shared about her father. The number of Uber drivers I have met in Edinburgh who are driving because they can't get jobs as lecturers, doctors, scientists. It's absolute nonsense.

How can anyone not be moved by this? This is the second or possibly third generation of Palestinians who have grown up in conflict. Our politicians clearly aren't interested so what next?

With each day, I am more in awe of the Palestinian spirit, more heartbroken but mostly more furious that we are not taking action to stop this genocide. Never again meant never again, for anyone. Even when the oppressed becomes the oppressor.

First Minister John Swinney visited CRUK Scotland Inst where he met volunteers and heard from university and charity leaders about the future of cancer research. His visit came as it was announced Scottish scientists will co-lead a global project to improve the treatment of bowel cancer.

Thank you to all the brilliant researchers, like the ones at the Cancer Research UK Institute in Glasgow that I visited today, who work on new cutting-edge approaches to curing cancers. Early detection of cancer is key, which is why we must continue supporting research and innovation.

A brilliant day at CRUK Scotland Inst today with Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney, Iain Foulkes and Owen Sansom 🏳️‍🌈. It was great to meet with some of our amazing volunteers and researchers, and hear about all the incredible science that’s going on in Scotland.

Why are people not outraged about this? When it's a teacher or train driver, there is uproar. But doctors? What did we do to deserve such awful treatment?

It’s sickening to see Palestinian suffering exploited to justify the cold-blooded murder of two Israeli embassy staff in Washington, DC. Don’t pretend to stand with us while shedding blood in our name. That’s not solidarity—it’s a vile betrayal.
