Tonight I will be talking with Emile Donovan (9:15 PM, RNZ) about what happens when you catch a spider indoors and place it outside - does it survive or does it die? #LoveSpiders 🕷 google.com/url?q=https://…

A 1943 study concluded that rats had octave equivalence – perceiving the same note type (e.g., C#s) from different octaves as similar. Now over 80 years later, we finally can show that this result was not due to methodological issues as has been claimed. doi.org/10.1098/rsos.2…

Imagine a tiny agile warrior, not much larger than a coin yet possessing a maternal instinct that would put many higher species to shame. Pardosa prativaga commonly known as a Thin-Legged Wolf Spider is not only a master hunter but also an exemplary parent. #TurnFear2Fascination

Tim Jonas Arachtober BAS Portia fimbriata stealthily hunting a spider in it's web. Best eyesight of all arachnids and demonstrates problem solving behavior while seeking it's primary dangerous prey (other spiders). Found in Africa, Asia, & Australia.

Happy #Arachtober! It's my first Arachtober photo of the year, and I thought I'd start by sharing this little Portia labiata. These little buddies get up to all sorts of tricks to capture their favourite prey (other spiders) #LoveSpiders

Tim Jonas BAS Arachtober The tightly packed hub of Zilla diodia. The angle took a lot of very uncomfortable back-bending and nettle stings, but I’m happy with the result
