Worse than this -- much worse -- is the judgement of researchers as grant machines, which is to say "indirect cost" machines. It robs you of the joy inherent in scholarship by transforming your curiosity into a revenue stream, and eats away at your soul.

Lots happening in the world. If you can concentrate and wish to increase your methods/stats acumen, I call your attention to these great papers we have recently published at #AMPPS Association for Psychological Science .

Abstracts are your paper's first impression. A weak abstract can sink even the best research. I transformed my abstract game with this 6-step Nature formula (and you can, too)

Calls for Commentaries at AMPPS: “Registered Replication Report: Study 3 from Trafimow and Hughes (2012)” David A. Sbarra psychologicalscience.org/publications/a…

We have an open call for commentaries on Rife et al, so you can go ahead and submit your paper again if you'd like-- the points seem relevant to this RRR as well.

I just learned that John Nesselroade, developmental psychologist and methodologist UVA passed away. My dissertation was based in large part on John's work, and he was a hugely influential figure in our field. Read his work-- always lucid and incredibly thoughtful. RIP

Ever wondered how Registered Reports differ from the regular literature? Some great work has been done on this (eg by Anne Scheel Daniël Lakens Courtney Soderberg) & I'd like to also highlight recent work of Aoife O'Mahony whose PhD thesis you can download here! orca.cardiff.ac.uk/id/eprint/1676…

I was deeply unplugged for a bit and missed this announcement, but here's a great (and still incomplete) list of some of our exciting and recent papers at #AMPPS h/t Association for Psychological Science

Excited to share our Registered Replication on whether Women are Really (Not) More Talkative Than Men: osf.io/preprints/psya…. The results are complex but describe a reality different from what the photos below show 😊. Kudos to Colin Tidwell, Alex Danvers, and Valeria Pfeifer.
