The chaplaincy team - all for of us - were out early each morning this past week providing energy bars and juices to the early arriving students to the library - as part of our contribution to support them during study week. Wishing them well in exams.

February 11th is the feast of our local saint Gobnait … the sixth century woman associated with Ballyvourney and her care for the sick. Patron of beekeepers … I’m biased but the image of Saint Gobnait by Harry Clarke in the Honan Chapel is beyond beautiful.

UCC Chaplaincy welcome Celine Griffin, director of UCC Bystander Intervention Programme to our Le Cheile session this evening. We have a long association with our bystander colleagues and proud to support their incredible work across the third level sector ⁦UCC Bystander Intervention⁩

UCC Chaplaincy was delighted to host students from Islamic Society, Jewish Society and Christian Union last evening as a ‘Faith and Friendship’ event. Collaborating on what unites us as people of different faiths is inspiring.

Thanks to the indefatigable Pat Leahy from Applied Social Sciences UCC for leading our Le Cheile session tonight on Drug and Alcohol Dependency. The Le Cheile programme is designed to help students to recognise change in behaviour of peers and use tools to assist or intervene.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday the beginning of the season of Lent. Bishop Fintan Gavin will preside at all three Masses in the Honan Chapel which will include the distribution of ashes. All are welcome.

Grateful thanks to all who attended the three Ash Wednesday liturgies in the Honan Chapel yesterday and thanks also to Bishop Fintan Gavin for his inspiring homilies as he visited UCC for the day.
