Astrocytes are critical for computation at the single neuron level and in fact they orchestrate large-scale synchronisation in networks. Brain modellers do need to incorporate them in the existing whole brain models.

This is an important finding. I feel adjustment, adaptation and scaling of axonal speed may be much more general mechanism tuning by time delay in order to facilitate synchrony in the brain
