It was an absolute honour to be in Kigoma, #Tanzania to deliver our very first eBioAtlas training to a brilliant group of participants from TAFIRI & Nyakitonto Youth Dev who will collect #eDNA samples in the #malagarasi wetlands later this month. IUCN NatureMetrics FootPrint Coalition

The shores of #laketanganyika will be hard to beat as a training location... Thank you for welcoming me and being such attentive (and fun) students 🙏 I look forward to sharing the results with you to see which group found most species! #training #eDNA Nyakitonto Youth Dev eBioAtlas

We teach our DNA methods around the globe and #womeninSTEM are part of that story too. Today our own Kat Bruce is training groups to collect biodiversity data using eDNA, which they will use in our eBioAtlas project funded by FootPrint Coalition in Tanzania! #WomenInScienceDay

It's been a long but super-rewarding day training this brilliant bunch of TAFIRI scientists on #eDNA sampling. Apologies to the guys on the back row but the #WomenInScience stole the show in this particular photo shoot! Ahsante sana everyone! eBioAtlas NatureMetrics IUCN

Terrible news from the IGB. Research showed more than one in five fish dies when migrating through a hydroelectric turbine! Read more about these shocking results down below: igb-berlin.de/en/news/one-fi…

Over one-third of SE Asia's Critically Endangered species are freshwater fishes. The beautiful Siamese tiger perch is just one of the 95 Critically Endangered fishes in the region. ASAP and partners including WWF Greater Mekong are working to conserve them all.

Great to present to the global sustainability team @EY_Consulting this afternoon about how we can make #biodiversity measurable in a meaningful & scalable way for business and finance NatureMetrics #eDNA #naturepositive

Freshwater Biodiversity must receive the same priority as terrestrial and marine. Without doing so we will never halt the loss of nature

We’ve been out in the field with one of the world’s top wine brands Viña Concha y Toro 🍷 taking #eDNA #water samples 💧 from its estates and forests. The initiative will help map local #biodiversity & contribute data towards eBioAtlas & IUCN's global map.

The first eBioAtlas training and sampling took place on the Malagarasi River in Tanzania. Funded by FootPrint Coalition Dr Kat Bruce led two training sessions in Dar es Salaam and Kigoma with fifty colleagues from our partners in the @tarifihq and Nyakitonto Youth Dev (2/5)

Back in April, we said a sad but very fond farewell to one of the originators of the eBioAtlas Programme. After more than 20 years with IUCN, Dr Will Darwall left for a new role leading a river catchment restoration programme. We wish him the very best in his new role. (3/5)

In December, Viña Concha y Toro, Latin America’s leading wine producer, trained staff in #eDNAsampling across its vineyards in Chile to support eBioAtlas. 20 samples were collected and sent to the NatureMetrics lab for analysis, 59 species were detected. (4/5)

.Kat Bruce gave a keynote speech about eBioAtlas at the @ChangeNOW_world event in Paris in May. Kat’s message was about the urgent need for #biodiversity data at scale and the importance of eBioAtlas when considering the draft Global Biodiversity Framework. (5/5)

Absolutely mad that the world’s governments are meeting this week to negotiate how to maintain a habitable biosphere and practically no one is paying any attention.
