You know what literary publishing (small journals) needs? A residency program. For journals whose staff is dispersed and volunteer, a place/funding to gather, work, dream, scheme. Anyone?

I am loving this novel. LOVING. But—naturalist agony!!—these are wrong facts from an “expert.” Friends. I am here to fact check your whale stuff. There are slivers of truth, but not whole truths. Whales (all beings!) deserve better. (Cringing at whether I’ve been guilty of this.)

We are excited to announce a new graphic novel adaptation of The Worst Journey in the World. Made in collaboration with the Scott Polar Research Institute, the book is written and drawn by Sarah Airriess Worst Journey Comic (moved to Bluesky) and will be published by Indie Novella Publishers on 24 November 2022!

Oh my.... to be on this list with writers I admire so much (two of whom, Robin Wall Kimmerer and Ross Gay, also blurbed @CascadiaGuide !) is really amazing. We gave so much of ourselves to making this book... out of love. It's pretty amazing to find it is loved in return!
