The diet in the past can be reconstructed by analyzing stable isotopes of collagen. Our research group EcoPast is well known by developing studies to reconstruct diet. Collagen is extracted in a clean lab specific for the ERC project PollutedPast at CRETUS.

PollutedPast is studying peat to reconstruct past climatic conditions, vegetation and environmental metal pollution. Peatlands are excellent paleoarchives. #pollution #metalpollution #archaeology

One more year, part of the team is excavating at the Corro dos Mouros site in Adai, Lugo. The work is directed by Dr. Pilar Prieto Martínez, PI of EcoPast. Adai is a RODA type site, an funerary and ritual spaces from the Bronze and Iron Age surrounded by a unique circular wall.

We are now excavating in Adai archaeological site. The team is directed by Pilar Prieto Martinez (EcoPast and @cispac_gal). The members of PollutedPast team, Noemí and Raul, are sampling a pedo-sedimentary sequence to monitorize the evolution of the site.

We continue to make progress in all areas of the ERC Project's research. PollutedPast continues to move forward.

We are back from holidays. Last Friday visited our center PhD. Maia Casna, a researcher in osteoarchaeology interested in paleopathology and medieval development, and she presented his research to the members of the group.
