A quick overview of automation in US ports. 6 terminals currently have a level of automation, 3 on the West Coast and 3 on the East Coast. The terminals on the West Coast are fully automated, while those on the East Coast are semi-automated (see map).

The sea off the coast of Galveston was so rough in the past days, that it tore a buoy out of its moorings, which beached next to where I live. Could also have been an anchor that broke the moorings since the Houston anchorage is right offshore.
