The human body and medical science are pretty amazing when you think on it. The fact I had an organ removed from my abdomen a week ago and could barely move after, and now can walk half a mile comfortably again is pretty... Well ... Amazing.

As a classroom teacher, I couldn't tell if a child was breastfed or formula-fed, but I could easily tell if a child was read to. Read to your kid.

I used to be such a huge proponent for educational technology. But after seeing kids click buttons instead of doing the math with fidelity more and more, I am moving away from it more each day.

Sometimes students need great roles more than they need great lessons. Teachers should never lose sight of the fact that their impact on kids often transcends the lesson.

I think it’s important for us to assume that students want to succeed. I think when we give them the benefit of the doubt, it makes it more likely that they will rise to our expectation. I could be wrong; I just don’t think many humans enjoy failing.

Around this time every year for the last 21 years I am usually getting antsy to get back to school and start diving into work. This year is the first year I am not and it feels rather weird... I think it's the fatigue from surgery recovery starting to take effect.

As a lifelong, diehard Cubs fan, my heart is broken. He was my absolute favorite as a kid and I loved watching him play his absolute heart out every game, as if it was his last... RIP Ryno 💔💔
