Happy 90th birthday, Cliff Fletcher! He spent close to two decades with the #Flames organization, first as the general manager in Atlanta (1972 through 1980) and then in Calgary (1980-1991), where he captured the Stanley Cup in 1989 🔥

Heartbroken. Mark Kirton, the ex NHLer who has battled ALS for years, has passed away. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone more determined, more impressive, more full of life. Rest in peace, pal. We are so sorry.

RIP Ken Dryden (1947–2025) One of the most important figures of the modern era — Hall of Fame goaltender, best-selling author, and a true leader of the game. To Bruins fans, Dryden will forever be remembered as the brick wall who stood in the way of Stanley Cup dreams in 1971,

I had the privilege of having several cups of coffee at my house with Ken Dryden to discuss concussion research and the great game of hockey. His wisdom, integrity, and leadership left a lasting impression on me. Ken was a remarkable person and someone I admired greatly.

Shaken and saddened by the news of Ken Dryden’s passing. For years, he was the undisputed conscience of the game. His important and relentless work on concussion awareness will matter as much as the many and varied things he accomplished on the ice. He lived a life that mattered.

Ken and I spoke extensively for a project at The Athletic, on the NHL’s top 100 players of the post-expansion era, which included Dryden and many of his Montreal Canadiens’ teammates. Every conversation was thought provoking and provided both telling anecdotes and great insight.

Ken Dryden and I both grew up in Toronto in the 1960s and shared an elementary school experience - combining two years in one to graduate faster. He chronicled his experience in The Class - well worth the read for its insights into how life turned out for he and his classmates.
