Is Streptococcus dysgalactiae subp. equisimilis (SDSE) just the poor cousin of S. pyogenes? Although it mostly causes disease in adults, there's actually much clinical and genomic overlap! See our review just out in CMR Steven Tong Mark_Davies_Lab Doherty Institute journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/cm…

How much #StrepA do we miss when assessing impetigo using culture? Answer: a lot Journal of Infectious Diseases shorturl.at/3qM7r In our original study we detected StrepA in 51% of lesions in children at MRC Unit The Gambia at LSHTM but this increased to 80% using qPCR.

Thrilled to announce we received an NHMRC Ideas Grant La Trobe University to investigate #StrepA transmission and optimal study design in high burden settings. Can’t wait to start working with Michael Marks, Trish Campbell, Ouli Xie, Mark_Davies_Lab, Edwin Armitage and the whole AI team!
