Journalists @ryannemena.bsky.social and Sean Beckner-Carmitchel have been injured by police covering the anti-ICE protest in Paramount. They were shot by Homeland Security in the head by less-lethal rounds and tear gassed.

We don't get involved in civil immigration enforcement. Also how dare you accuse us of being late to the party. Also the feds created hazardous conditions for our 👮 by deploying irritants so we promptly... dispersed the protesters. But just so we're clear, we don't get involved.

Nat Guard/DHS threw tear gas canisters and smoke grenades into the crowd. Protesters and media hit. Pellet rounds deployed. All to seemingly clear path for a convoy of DHS/Border Patrol vehicles. I got hit but fine after an eye rinse.

That’s not how the law works in California for journalists. You cannot be detained or obstructed from reporting in closed areas, including protests or riots.
