Here's an excellent dispatch from Watchdog Writers Group reporter Egan Ward about Tyson Foods growing conflict with Missouri politicians, including Josh Hawley. This is a huge story, and Egan is still reporting. columbiamissourian.com/news/state_new…

SCOOP: Tyson Foods has subpoenaed two news organizations, demanding they turn over notes and contacts with local farmers whom Tyson Foods put out of business. I've never seen such aggressive subpoenas issued by a major corporation to news media. investigatemidwest.org/2024/12/17/tys…

It appears that Tyson Foods CEO Donnie King misled U.S. Senator Josh Hawley last year when King said that Tyson would sell a local poultry plant to a competitor. In fact, Tyson signed a secret agreement limiting how the plant could be used. investigatemidwest.org/2024/12/17/tys…

Bombshell story from Egan Ward & InvestigateMidwest: Tyson has been accused of working with Cal-Maine to prevent competing poultry processors from taking over its Dexter, MO plant for 25 yrs. After shutting down Missouri plants and taking Missouri jobs, now Tyson Food is trying to silence Missouri farmers and stop them from getting accountability. How about Tyson tells the world instead why it’s using slave child labor in its supply chains

Refreshing to see politicians act quickly and address an important issue like this. Hopefully Josh Hawley call to action will allow more U.S. citizens to be aware of the fight for farmers’ rights in Missouri.

This was one of the of most insane monopolization schemes I've ever uncovered: Two secretive European companies rolled up every alternative supplier of egg-laying hens to American egg producers between 2010 and 2021—and have spent the past three years cashing in: raising hen

One of the great joys of the Watchdog Writers Group is working with super-talented young reporters in Missouri. Egan Ward is an absolute star. I feel better about the business knowing that he's about to enter the field full-time. The future is bright! showme.missouri.edu/2025/missouri-…
