This is the leader of the Welsh Conservatives Andrew RT Davies. I think there is a very strong argument to be made that he is the worst political leader in the UK. His leadership is a gift to the Welsh Labour Government. Let me explain why he is so bad... [Thread]

Universal free school meals means that no child risks going without at least one nutritious meal a day Yet Labour voted against this on several occasions If this is what we can achieve without being in power - imagine the difference a Plaid Cymru government can have 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿💚

Friends! It's the feast day of St. Hildegard of Bingen, an abbess, polymath, mystic, & eel truth-teller. Medieval thinkers agreed that eels reproduce asexually. But Hildegard suggested that eels mate at sea, where we can't watch. No one listened to her. But she was right! 1/2

I’m at a conference today. The organisers just told me that I can’t bring my daughter to the networking session or the dinner tonight. I couldn’t get a babysitter. This is one of those times, as a single parent, that you really miss out. It felt like a gut punch.

not dunking on neil’s joke here, but something i think about a lot is that, with vanishingly few exceptions, the great artists, thinkers etc of history who have entered the canon simply never did their own housework

This is absolutely spot on and Deborah Smith, who is as humble as she is talented, played a really crucial role. I will say this again: no proper representation of international authors would be possible without outstanding translators.

Ancient Light ✨ There she is. Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS in all her full-tailed glory, streaming though the sky above Eglwys St.Cwyfan ☄️ A visitor who last graced our skies 80,000 years ago, when Neanderthals still existed!

So it seems the Crewe stretch of HS2 (in light blue) is back on. Apparently it is possible to amend the project...except for its classification...which remains, inexplicably, "England & Wales". You will notice from this handy map how much of this "Welsh" project is in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

the other night at a party in Oxford this guy called Paul asked what I did for a living,I said “a lecturer in philosophy”.He was angered & demanded more info. I said I’m “mainly a philosopher of art etc” He replied: “wtf, it’s so embarrassing that you’d call urself a philosopher”
