Every time I hear someone on the phone "conducting business" at the airport, I count myself lucky that I don't have to conduct business...🙄 Life is for enjoying...I'll take this instead.

Daryl Fairweather, PhD | Chief Economist I look at it as I GET to attend graduation every year! It is the best day of the year seeing everyone so happy and excited. Frankly, it makes me sad that so many of my colleagues skip one of the most important parts of our job.

When I got an email today saying that we should make ourselves available for office hours in the student dorms (like students ordering help via room service), I thought for sure Associate Deans had hijacked the email distribution list! Nope...it was real 🤦‍♂️

Check out my new article with KristinaSargentEcon ! We use a gravity model to show that length and era of colonial occupation impact future migration rates from Africa to Europe in nonlinear ways. A tiny step forward in unpacking the economic effects of a complicated colonial history.
