Hey, archaeology students… If you have questions about pXRF of obsidian, ceramics, or other archaeo materials, I’m happy to try and answer them, even chat with you, and not charge $100+. I’m not RPA-certified, but my pXRF-based obsidian sourcing is published in Science and PNAS.

My students were looking into one of our old archaeological survey collections, and they came across this 1997 senior thesis that, after the Table of Contents, includes this amazing ā€œCast of Characters (in order of appearance),ā€ something I’ve never seen in a thesis before.

Flawed methods, I say… The xenomorph from the Alien films only ranks low in on-screen body count because they’re in space. But think of the property damage! The Nostromo and its entire cargo plus a whole terraforming colony that had to be nuked from orbit.

Why are #BronzeAge cattle so interesting? #ThrowbackThursday to an article we published 3 years ago now. It was one of my favourite papers to write and I didn't have Twitter at the time so a little 🧵 (1/9) #scicomm sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
