For a long time families in urban centers have been overlooked in interventions to #EndFGM & other harmful practices. The "Hooyo Haigoynin" project is specially designed to address FGM & child marriage among the Somali community members living in Eastleigh, Nairobi. #MumDontCutMe

All set for tomorrow's launch of the "Hooyo Haigoynin" project. The project aims to address FGM in the Eastleigh area, with a particular focus on the Somali community, by empowering them to change behaviour, attitudes, and debunk #FGM myths. #MenEndFGM | #MumDontCutMe

"Hooyo Haigoynin" project aims to address #FGM, child marriage and other harmful practices that affect the sexual and reproductive health of women/girls in Nairobi's Eastleigh community. #MumDontCutMe #MenEndFGM

Today we were joined by Bernadette Loloju ceo Anti-FGM Board Kenya, (First lady Beatrice Sakaja, Roselyene Head of GBV, & Maryam Chief officer Gender) County Government 047, Sheikh Rashid, representatives from German Embassy Nairobi and European Union In Kenya among other dignitaries at the launch of #MumDontCutMe Program.

The program aims at sensitizing the residents of Eastleigh on ending #FGM and other harmful cultural practices as well as menstrual hygiene for the girls. This pilot project will inform the rolling out of #MumDontCutMe programs across other hotspot counties. #EndFGM

Culture is deeply entrenched in people. Hence, thought County Government 047 is not among #FGM hotspot counties as per KDHS, there is need to sensitize the general population residing in Nairobi as it's drawn from across #Kenya. #MumDontCutMe, #EndFGM
