Paramedic education and mindset often focuses on the “big 3” clinical presentations - cardiac arrest, STEMI, and major trauma. But sepsis is more common than all 3. Join me as I chat with sepsis researcher Prof Andrew Udy on the latest episode of clinical conversations.

Fascinating, and great job by all - 2 large trials that answer an important question. Glad that we reserved a decision on a broader rollout of IO in our service (from just CCPs to all paramedics) while awaiting the results of PARAMEDIC3. #researchmatters

Delighted to receive my copy of “Critical Care Paramedicine” from Class Professional today. It was a real honour to be invited to contribute to this textbook alongside Rose, to describe current best practice when caring for the #newborn in an out-of-hospital setting

Morphine or fentanyl? Does splinting really reduce pain? Is ketamine the ideal prehospital analgesic? Is there a role for paramedic administered NSAIDs? What about nerve blocks? Find out the answer to these and more on part 2 of James’ interview with Bill Lord. 🚑💊🤕

It’s not often that you need to provide a risky treatment before you’ve even assessed the patient, but that’s what paramedics sometimes need to do when caring for patients with acute behavioural disturbance. James Oswald & I talk safer sedation on Clinical Conversations.
