This morning the African Union, 🇨🇷 🇮🇪 🇯🇴 🇵🇭 🇸🇱 @UNOCH UNODA Geneva UNICEF ICRC CIVIC: ➡️ highlighted the harm that explosive weapons cause civilians, including children ➡️ called for endorsement & implementation of EWIPA Political Declaration Civilians are #NotATarget.

In conflicts around the world, thousands of children are losing their lives to explosive weapons. Many more are living through unimaginable trauma. Parties to conflict must #ProtectChildrenInConflict and end the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.

The use of #explosiveweapons in attacks on healthcare increased by 64% in 2024 with incidents recorded in 26 countries and territories by Insecurity Insight. About 90% of all incidents were recorded in Lebanon, Myanmar, Palestine and Ukraine. #EWM2024 ➡️ bit.ly/ewm2024
