I am happy to present the paper led by our master student Irene Veronesi on the deprojection of galaxy cluster density profiles! You can find the preprint on arXiv today: arxiv.org/abs/2411.00092

The XRISM spectrum of Cyg X-3, a high-mass X-ray binary consisting of a compact object (likely a black hole) and a WR star. XRISM reveals a rich set of emission and absorption lines with complex profiles tl;dr: most amazing spectrum I've ever seen 😮😮 arxiv.org/abs/2411.00597

Today, XRISM is observing Abell 754, a galaxy cluster 760 million light-years away in Hydra. This cosmic giant is actually two galaxy clusters colliding—a massive clash in space!

It's paper day! I'm thrilled to share our new paper about the correlation between X-ray and Hα filaments in massive galaxies at the centers of cooling flow clusters. arxiv.org/abs/2501.01902

XRISM’s ultra-precise X-ray spectrometer has, for the first time, detected oscillating hot gas motion in the Centaurus Cluster’s core! 🌌✨ This breakthrough helps unravel the decades-old mystery of how the cluster’s core remains heated. 📄 Read more: xrism.jaxa.jp/en/topics/scie…

Radio spectral analysis of Nest200047, by Marisa Brienza+ The peculiar AGN at the center of this group is studied with data from 50 to 1500 MHz. The broad band allows the spectral characterization of the filaments + aging analysis of the multiple bubbles arxiv.org/abs/2502.18244

#paperday: AGN feedback in Hα-luminous galaxy clusters, by Fornasiero+ (a graduated master's student I had the pleasure of supervising!). This Chandra+JVLA analysis of A2009 completes the in-depth study of a list of X-ray & Hα bright clusters, see arxiv.org/abs/2503.07781

Measurements of gas velocities in the ICM in the Coma cluster by XRISM This is the first time that the gas velocity dispersion is measured in a merging cluster with a microcalorimeter! Interesting results: sigma_v is low while v_bulk is quite high... arxiv.org/abs/2504.20928

Radial properties of radio halos, by Rajpurohit+ (w/ myself+) New radio halos with LLS>2 Mpc are reported, even at high-frequency. We measured the surface brightness and spectral properties of the emission, obtaining important results (more below) arxiv.org/abs/2505.05415 1/4

To summarize, the studied halos with LLS > 2 Mpc have properties in common with that of classical radio halos. Sensitive observations at high-frequency are also able to detect the peripheral emission and are crucial to remove the contamination of discrete sources 4/4

The magnetic field in A2142, by Pagliotta+ (w/ Chiara Stuardi, FraLoi++) A rotation measure and polarization study is performed with MeerKAT. The magnetic field profile of the ICM is drawn, indicating a central field strength of 9.5 muG at the cluster center. arxiv.org/abs/2507.00114
