Had the pleasure of walking around Rory's farm for a bird survey this morning. It's always good to see switched-on farmers who can produce food *and* wildlife, and those NFU field access point signs are a genius idea 🙂

Fantastic to see Andy Roberts being awarded the 2022 Farming & conservation award by West Midland Bird Club for his continued amazing work for Wildlife on his farm in South Staffs, huge thanks to Roger Broadbent for taking time out to do this. A just reward for a true Farming hero.

Cover crop after wheat doing OK. See the different root structures. Sunflower, cereal rye, turnip, phacelia,chicory, plantain, vetch and clover.

Rarely see lapwing here in the winter - until this cold snap. They are to be seen foraging across all the wheat fields atm.

A visit to Richard Tomlinson this week saw us ring Skylark 24 Woodcock 1 Redwing 2 Jack snipe 1 This included a very large Skylark which was well over 40g and had a wing on 124mm!
