You do realise that nature recovery is now a co-financed project with farmers? And that most are barely viable? That they were screwed in several ways in the budget that undermines any trust in your organisation? And makes it almost impossible for us to help you?

Today it has been announced that capital grants are on hold, due to budget constraints. The truth is in real terms the budget is 44% smaller than 2019 and now the schemes can't be delivered. This government's rural policy is in tatters, trust severely damaged.

Government handling of this is a shambles, and is going to derail progress that was starting to be made on nature recovery at scale. Vast majority of nature restoration will have to be done on privately owned farmland, and farmers need paying to do it. theguardian.com/environment/20…
