Why are some species expanding their range while others aren’t? Check out my new preprint with Nancy Chen 陳嵐欣, Corinⓐ Logan (she/her), & Dieter Lukas on the causes of one of the largest range expansions of a native species in the Americas! ecoevorxiv.org/879pe/ #TheGrackleProject

Excited to share an awesome project I was part of as an undergrad at the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology (MVZ) (and my #firstpaper!) Thanks to Nick Mason and @eco_physiology for being great mentors through the whole process.

Thrilled to share that I’ve been awarded the NSF GRFP!! I’m so grateful to the mentors and colleagues who helped me along the way; huge shout out to my advisor Nancy Chen 陳嵐欣 and the whole Chen lab. Super excited for what comes next! 🧬🐦

My Science Corps fellowship at the Central Visayan Institute Foundation in Bohol 🇵🇭 has been a life changing experience. It brings me great joy to share that together we are launching the Science-Corps #Filipinas in #STEM series on May 30!

Leveled up to a PhD candidate in the Nancy Chen 陳嵐欣 lab! Now it’s time to sleep for a year 🙃

How do microchromosomes vary between bird species? Come find out at Faye Romero's comparative genomics poster tonight! #AOS_SCO23 poster #126

Excited to share our pre-print for a shiny new Florida-Scrub Jay genome assembly and annotation! Long-read sequencing and a linkage map helped us add ~260 Mb of sequence and find a few more chromosomes in comparison to previous assemblies. Nancy Chen 陳嵐欣 ✨🧬 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

📢 NEW GENOME ALERT In #G3journal, Faye Romero et al. report a chromosome-level genome assembly and annotation of the federally Threatened Florida Scrub-Jay, facilitating future conservation research. 🐦 Read more: bit.ly/3C1fDCS

I started photographing these bills as a junior undergrad, and now I’m deep into a PhD in EEB (largely thanks to how fun I found this project and my inspiring grad student mentor Dr. Nicolas M Alexandre). Huge props to all who helped drive this amazing work forward!
