This is my old friend TJ8101. The first Scopoli's #shearwater I tagged in Sardinia, in 2011. Since then (12 y), she has layed her egg every year in the same nest. She is lovely, isn't she? 🥰

#Microplastics are pervasive #pollutants that can drift with currents, and surface feeders like #Mediterranean #stormies, that exploit dynamic structures for #foraging, can ingest them. Sadly, we found several #plastic #polymers in their regurgitates. authors.elsevier.com/a/1fZLr,asi2FjJ

Not only human-related threats for our #stormies. Late summer swells create deep pools inside the nesting caves, where fledglings drown when exploring the surroundings. Life can be hard for these small #seabirds, and it's hearthbreaking to find them like this! #ornithology

After years of working on #seabirds and lesser #kestrel, I finally found the fusion species, a seaRaptor. Federico De Pascalis and I just GPS-tagged 17 Eleonora's falcon (+ 9 tagged last year) with S.Nissardi and C.Zucca. A new data analysis adventure is about to begin!

Seabirds have always captured my💙, but I can't deny the beauty and elegance of #Eleonora's falcon🦅. 27% of the 26 individuals the team (Jacopo G Cecere , Carla, Sergio & I) caught in #Sardinia were of the dark morph. I am now struggling to choose a favorite morph! #birds #ornithology
