Does anyone know what’s so special about the Renault Twizy seat belt? Ours has been off the road for over two months now and Renault UK and Renault France seem to have no idea… we can’t have the first Twizy that needs a re seatbelt ever?

Crumbs. I missed the 50th birthday of the Vauxhall Chevette. Here's the June 1975 launch advert. Unlike the Fiat 127 and Renault 5, the Chevette was rear wheel drive, and somehow never had the same following that those achieved, or the slightly later 1976 Ford Fiesta.

A year after the May 1975 launch of the Vauxhall Chevette hatchback, a four door saloon finally arrived This advert is from May 1977.

A few months after the May 1975 launch, a high spec GL Vauxhall Chevette was launched featuring "distinctive" seat fabric, sports wheels, bumper overriders, and some chrome trim to the wheel arches and even a engine bay lamp! "It says Grand Luxury the moment you see the car."

In early 1976 a new budget Vauxhall Chevette E was launched and it lost some of the equipment of the L such as no clock and vinyl seats which was more common in budget Fords and British Leyland models

The Vauxhall Chevette soon started to have a successful rally season as this 1977 advert demonstrates. To get around a General Motors issue about Vauxhall being in motor sport, a well supported Dealer Team Vauxhall was created.

The Vauxhall Chevette had a light tweak in 1979 following the discontinuing of the Opel Kadett cousin (which is where the Chevette seats had come from for example). The obvious external change was the headlight covers like the Cavalier already had.
