Obviously, just caring about others should be enough to push for people to get vaccinated And this is why I support the OSHA rule for vaccine mandates And the CMS rule for healthcare workers Because we need a functional society And that means a functional healthcare system

Omicron may be roughly as severe as influenza on an individual basis—and much less so if you're up to date on vaccination. But we're seeing a lot of hospitalizations because so many people are getting infected in such a short time.

The CDC study on kids, covid, and diabetes was deeply flawed. Appreciate NYT and Jeffrey Flier alerting readers to the problems with it. nytimes.com/2022/01/15/opi…

Sobering reminder that almost half the world is unvaccinated. Expediting vaccine equity is the best way to slow spread, limit mutations, and control the pandemic.

A big part of the problem right now is that after two years of Covid, everyone can cite some research study—whether good or bad—to justify their unwavering and dogmatic position—whether wrong or right.

What comes next is a Right Wing push to not only make a national abortion ban but to prosecute and attack anyone transporting, assisting, or even informing women in red states. Meanwhile, there will be an aggressive cultural and educational push to paint all of this as normal.

In principle, I support new admission metrics. But I want those metrics not only to be evidence-based, but also fairly priced and not exploit applicants who have no say in whether they take the test or not. If admissions officers derive value from Casper, let them pay for it.

A non-medical friend recently asked me to describe clinic. I told her to imagine you have 20 meetings in a day, half of them new clients with urgent needs. Each requires your best self. You are late for at least 10 of them. You must prepare a report and deliverables for each one.

Once when I was young, around 8 or so, we had a garage sale. My siblings and I were killing time riding our bikes along the sidewalk and this guy stopped in. But he wasn't there to buy anything. He went up to my mom, introduced himself and said he'd stopped because he saw us...

WSJ covered resident unions today. Article dropped 3h ago; 400+ comments already. My fave is “There was no issue with work-life balance until women became MDs!” But don’t worry, Stockholm syndrome, the bootstraps brigade, and socialized medicine fearmongering are there, too.

In 1998, a small residency program in Colorado lost its accreditation. It wasn’t the kind of thing that you’d expect to change the course of academic medicine. And yet, it *almost* did. Earlier, I explained how the Match started. Now, I’ll tell you how it nearly collapsed. 🧵

What if I told you that I co-founded a startup in 1987 that obtained world-wide rights to GLP1 as a metabolic Rx, collaborated with Pfizer to show key activities, & abandoned it in 1990 when Pfizer lost interest? I tell the previously untold tale in an open access paper now up
