Celtic fans gather in New York to watch their heroes on the tour of 1931. The postcard is a depiction of the former home of the New York Giants, the Polo Grounds, sadly long demolished. Celtic beat the Giants 3-2 here in the second game of their tour in front of 35,000 fans.

One of the subjects for my forthcoming book, having served in the Coldstream Guards from 1885-1899, attested to the York & Lancaster Regt on 16/09/1914 but discharged on. 21/11/1914. He was a 47 year old colliery deputy at the time. 1/2

Another rare programme bought recently at auction. Then called Clapton Orient, #lofc were playing at the Lea Bridge Road stadium, a now demolished speedway track. Jimmy Seed was making his first return to his previous club as Addicks boss. #cafc won 3 - 1

A huge day for Nottingham Forest at the WFCG, hosting England for the first time since 1941. Here’s the programme from that game v Wales. An exceptionally rare item, copies fetch well in excess of £500. #NFFC #EngvSe

The Stanks, Berwick-upon-Tweed. This unique football ground at the foot of Berwick’s rampart walls in a former defensive moat. Can’t think of a more historic place to play the beautiful game. Literally surrounded by heritage.

War time programmes, especially reserve games, are very rare as few were printed and fans were encouraged to recycle them to help the war effort. This reserve programme v Leytonstone, one of the many teams that became Dagenham & Redbridge, was purchased at auction recently 3/n #cafc
