Ryanne It would be safe to give Cefuroxime, Ertapenem, and/or Azithromycin in the setting of a confirmed or unconfirmed penicillin allergy. Better yet, test for penicillin allergy and about 95% on the time the appropriate testing will be negative.

Hi, I'm an Allergist. You may know from my hits "hives that last longer than 6 weeks are not a food allergy", "panel testing for food allergy is not helpful" and my latest chart-topper "First generation antihistamines are no longer indicated-For Anything"

The final line sums it up well: “We tell patients, ‘bring on the immunity.’ Who wouldn’t trade a few days of a rash for protection from a life-threatening virus?” - Dr. Arkin. #GetVaccinated #dermtwitter #MedTwitter Jules Lipoff, MD Misha Rosenbach, MD Seemal R. Desai, MD, FAAD

It was a privilege to co-write this article with Thomas H. Lee, MD and Sarah McLaughlin featured in the Harvard Business Review. Healthcare leaders should make flexibility, respect and advancement major themes of their #culture, especially for women physicians. hbr.org/2022/01/why-so…

The research is clear: People with mentors perform better, advance in their careers faster, and even experience more work-life satisfaction. But many people don't know how to find a mentor or establish a relationship. hbr.org/2020/01/how-to…

Bad news: “Hypoallergenic” dogs don’t exist Good news: Many people with 🐶 allergy can find breeds that they’re less reactive to I’ve never told a family to get rid of their pet - We can almost always find ways to control allergy symptoms nationwidechildrens.org/family-resourc… #NationalPetDay

I know you want to help but please STOP ordering IgE food panels on babies with eczema. The parents get no answers. The babies don't like it. The ordering doctor is puzzled. The allergist hates it. Put the pen down, and let's talk about it. #baby #food #allergy #eczema

Sept 28th is the day Fleming discovered Penicillin. Let's raise awareness about penicillin allergy today! 1) About 10% of the US reports a penicillin allergy but 90% are negative on further evaluation (see your local allergist for evaluation)

Robert Oubre, MD | The Doctor of Documentation Don’t use diphenhydramine (Benadryl)!! Second-generation 24-hour non-sedating antihistamines are safer, longer lasting and less sedating. A much better choice.

👀💊9/28 is National Penicillin Allergy Day! I devoted much of my career to studying the negative impact of taking a reported penicillin allergy as truth and using alternative antibiotics. Some adverse consequences are preventable through penicillin allergy evaluation 1/3
