🌽U.S. #corn yield fails to break USDA's initial trendline yield for a sixth consecutive year, coming in at 179.3 bu/acre (still a record, though!). It also failed to break 180 yet again despite the market first calling for a 180+ yield back in 2018.

Revolving conversations of trimming farm input costs has me constantly revisiting the Law of the Minimum visual. When choosing to reduce specific fertilizer inputs to save $/Acre, do you know if you're overspending on other fertilizer inputs using the law of the minimum?

*Trimming Fertilizer Costs in 2025* Do you know what's needed to hit your bushel targets? Removal rates often reflect what the grain removes, BUT yield is first limited during the vegetation stages. A big factory makes a big product - Focus on building the plant first!

*Trimming Fertilizer Costs in 2025* How much Phosphate is available to your crop this year? Many times it's not the number you'll find on your soil test. We have to do some converting! If your looking to cut back on phosphorus this year, make sure it's not your limiting factor.

*Trimming Fertilizer Costs in 2025* One of my favorite nutrients - Potassium! So little is removed by the corn kernel, yet so much is needed to build the plant. You can't produce a big product, without a big factory! Don't limit your corn's potassium needs!

Productive day of AgriGold DSM and Dealer training today. Got our hands on the plants, and minds prepared before planting season begins! Thank you to Farm Credit Illinois for the meeting room!

Soil temperatures saw a dip from the 5 yr average in the 3rd week of February. However, as we get into March it appears that things could become more active as temperatures look to climb

Planted a plot 7 days ago near Tuscola, IL and watched soil temps drop over the next 48 hours. It was a nice surprise to see these seedlings developing properly.

🌱 Field Check Friday šŸ“ Southern Illinois Have you checked behind your planter? AgriGold agronomist Nick Frederking notes that conducting an in-field planter evaluation before going full speed ahead can help set the stage for strong, uniform stands.

A fairly wet start to June in many areas of Illinois could amp up the threat of tar spot in corn this season. AgriGold & DEKALB Asgrow Seed agronomists tell Rhiannon Branch they're watching rainfall totals and impacts of hazy conditions from wildfire smoke ā¬‡ļø farmweeknow.com/crop_condition…

10 days ago there were perfect conditions for Southern Rust infection in Southern IL. I expect Southern Rust to be easily found the 1st week of August. If scouting today, you may find the early faded lesions that develop ahead of the raised pustule.
